December 2024
Against an upsetting and unsettling backdrop of war on the edge of Europe and in the Middle East, the past 12 months has, perhaps surprisingly, seen Tim Saunders Publications continue to grow. In fact, I have published the most books ever this year thanks to repeat business and recommendation. Book lovers are buying the books, too, which pleasingly, has resulted in royalty payments for some authors. I now represent over 35 writers and poets and the following titles have been published during 2024:
Poetry
Averse to Poetry by Garry Davidson
Rhyme and Reason by Susan O'Brien
Tide Wrack by Mary Buchan
The Light Will Always Return by Frank McMahon
Novels
The Strange Tale of Mary Smith by Graham Phipps
Writing from life by Jo Foster
The Pier by Em Coombes
Three of a kind by Marion Desmond
We Cry to Thee by Stephen Constance
Bull Rider by Darlene Winter
Fine art and Gardening
A Year in My Garden series of books by Sue Goodchild
Anthologies
Thoughtful Moments
Time and Tide
Ageing
A collection of stories
A collection of verse
Maia Brown-Jackson has become our Best Selling author after selling 106 copies of her And My Blood Sang book of poetry.
Good reviews can help to generate sales. Both Helen and Lysander by Stephen Hodgson and Hong Kong by Mary Levycky have received excellent reviews.
The now firmly established Paul Cave Writing Prizes continue to attract interesting and varied submissions from around the world. The highlight is always reaching a decision on the winners of each category and sending out the prizes. Having the opportunity to create award winning writers and poets is a huge privilege and each decision is reached after great deliberation. It is fair to say though that winners of these awards submit excellent work featuring polite and considered language that requires little editing. I want these awards to really stand out as a shining beacon for promoting the best use of the English language. In 2025 The Paul Cave Prize for Children's Literature returns once again and the award is now open for entries with a deadline of February 28, 2025.
In 2025 there will be more Writing Challenges and more anthologies, which give contributors an opportunity to easily get their work published online and in print. Books in the pipeline to publish for next year include The Canticles of Spring by Frank McMahon and The Sea Painting by Sue Cox.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and may the next year be an inspiring one for you.

December 2023
It’s been another busy, productive and enjoyable year publishing a number of anthologies of poetry and short stories from a broad selection of international contributors. My anthologies continue to provide a good platform to get work published. The number of bookshops and outlets stocking these titles continues to grow and I have had articles in both the writing press and the media in general. Hope for Ukraine is our bestseller followed by The West Country Collection, Hope for Turkey and Syria and Letters from Chapel Farm by Mary Buchan.
Books I have published for authors this year include:
Poetry
And My Blood Sang by Maia Brown-Jackson
Love and Death by Iain Curr
That was then, this is now by Philip Dawson-Hammond
Novels
A Lesson in Murder by Lin Bird
The Fourth Rising Trilogy by Tom Beardsell
Stronghold of Happiness by Devina Symes
The Price of Reputation by Lin Bird
Memoir
Letters from Chapel Farm by Mary Buchan
Hong Kong by Mary Levycky
The Office Diaries by Garry Davidson
How dreams affect your life by DoLoraVi
Screenplay
Stronghold of Happiness by Devina Symes
At the start of the year the idea of introducing an exciting new literary prize emerged and slowly gathered pace. It evolved to become The Paul Cave Prize for Literature, which was a good way for me to remember my old employer and mentor, Paul Cave. Starting anything new is always daunting because you don't know how it will be received. This is especially so when the prize is self-funded, unlike the established ones, which are often backed by large legacies or corporate sponsorship. My prize, which snaps at the heels of those traditional players, became a highlight of 2023 and an excellent way for many little-known writers to get their work more widely read. From the feedback received it was apparent that there was also a need to recognise children’s literature, so later in the year I introduced The Paul Cave Prize for Children’s Literature, again self-funded. My family and I are particularly looking forward to reading the submissions and selecting winners for this latest contest. It is a refreshingly different approach to the other more staid competitions out there. Both my prizes offer writers and poets valuable opportunities to have their work acknowledged and to get it more widely read while also providing the winners with helpful feedback, which is useful for personal development. My own children love reading and are inspired by literature. Heidi (10) is already writing her own book, watch this space…
It’s a privilege to share the publishing journey with so many talented and passionate writers and poets. I always try my best to show work in its best possible light, editing and setting with great care and attention to detail. I look forward to receiving more submissions for next year’s anthologies.
My family and I are looking forward to 2024 and we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and fulfilling new year.

December 2022
It's always important to assess how a business is progressing and time has certainly flown by since I established this fledgling small press, Tim Saunders Publications, at the start of the year. I have been pleasantly surprised at how it has evolved. During this year we have sold more than 700 books. What started out as a way for me to publish my own books, quickly burgeoned into something far more important than that. Being surrounded by such talent is actually inspiring me to write more of my own work so I really can't grumble. In less than 12 months I have published 14 anthologies, many of them regional; covering England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. There has even been one in America: The America Collection. They are a wonderful platform for little-known through to more established writers and poets. And they have been well received by all accounts.
Now it seems that the G20 nations including the United Kingdom, are officially in recession thanks to the war in Ukraine, Brits must endure the highest inflation since 1981 and probably the most strikes we have ever known, too. During such challenging times there is little better than losing ourselves in new and exciting literature, but it can also help us tackle our shared problems and anxieties.
New authors
I have been introduced to some extremely talented writers and poets and now represent 10 of them in England, Wales, America and Australia. This has resulted in me publishing the following books for my authors during 2022:
A Life Worth Living by Mary Cochrane
Faze by MJ White
A Time of Reflection by Margaret Hughes
A Dream of Destiny by DoLoraVi
Dreams Can Come True by Rebecca Mansell
The Adventures of Mitch by Paul Franklin
What If? by Carolyn Thrum
Tourist to the Sun by Virginia Betts
Poetry as Prozac by Jamie Tucknutt
Over the course of the year I have received some encouraging media coverage too, in the form of radio interviews and articles in newspapers and magazines in England and America including Writing Magazine where I received a nice review for which I am grateful.
Next year is looking just as exciting, with more anthologies and books for authors in the pipeline.
